| And When the Sunlight Finally Finds You |
| by William Taylor Jr. |
| she is beautiful
as music plays from an old radio on a small table in a rented room with carnation colored walls red wine in plastic cups yellow light from bedside lamps and through blinded windows the noise and the sorrow of the city is but a distant music it's a gentle place to hide fingers touching lips breasts and the lashes of eyes clinging to the last few hours of darkness as a child to the last few days of summer and when the sunlight finally finds you it brings with it a timeless and familiar sadness a price willingly paid for the chance to be beautiful for an hour or two for the chance to be remembered however briefly as something other than what you have become. |
