| My cousin told me that
When my uncle was drunk, He told him that my father: Mild-mannered Idealistic Conservative Christian, Used to grow pot in the family garden. I like that image of my father, Who helped me raise ducklings and geese Who built his own cabin Who gives all his 'projects' tender loving care, Growing marijuana with that same attitude, that same love. He'd sing to the buds, Check on them constantly, Read them bed time stories, Rock them to sleep, They'd all be females; he'd be sure of that. And though when people smoked it, They'd say, "Powerful shit," I can see tears in his eyes, As his babies finally leave him. |
