searching for rare jazz moment radio … waves rushing static flipping turning knowing out of all dumb angels flipping switches in Dimension 5 was you you were the one laughing and turning the dial tuning in instead of out you found the frequency of all those people calling themselves poets and constantly reinventing the square wheel and I hear you laughing snickering at them with them in spite of them as they meditate on your charcoal & ink smudges you called poetry and if so everything is a poem and by same reasoning everything is not a poem and therefore irrelevant but you played it loose the laughter worth it all and I tried to share your work with the University but Gary Snyder warned me that you and Charles Bukowski did not belong in the classroom of middle class students --might not dig where you’re coming from so I gave him an insane “B” paper on Stephen Crane and he said interesting choice but really man the hands of the would be wordsmiths of this world slip fall forgetting the sacred hammer of alchemy it is your heart it is your soul it is you mind and have we forgotten that each word contains a magic formula no matter who you are and this sequence is for you with you in spite of you because when I turn on my car radio I hear you laughing. |
