Man Soup
by Melissa Hansen
I am eating
Man soup

The cage
Of
Monogamy

Precious
And
Pure

Has
Sold
Me

To the
Lips
Of
Another
Man

I always
Run away

And the
Smell
Of the pit
Of his
Arm

Shackles me

For years
The golden
Rope

Binds
My ankles
And wrists

Hogtied I’m sure

The blackmail
Of oxytocin

And his
Soft blue eyes

Melt me

Into this crate
My kennel

And I do
Not eat
Nor drink

My man soup.

It grows
Cold on its
Metallic tray

I feast
On bread
And water

I run away.
