in the warehouse and the wheezing floor fans didn't help. brains and blood boiled inside human pressure cookers and the tepid water cooler didn't help and the salt tablets didn't help and the cool menthol 100's didn't help. my sunburned shaved head about to split open like a ripe summer melon, and the boss man with his bourbon breath bellowing hot air down the aisles didn't help. when i nearly passed out from heat stroke thinking about the suits and the plastic office girls chilling out in their climate- controlled asylum didn't help either. and that evening after I got home only to find that my air conditioner was broken sweating on the front steps, trying to cool off with a cold one my born-again neighbor told me once again how i needed to be saved and she warned me once again about the lake of fire but i guess she never heard that the devil had a choice between Texas and Hell and he chose Hell for his home and Texas for his rental property. |
