| In the Wind of Tonight |
| by Christine Bruness |
| I watched you die
from the bottle saw you off to a cement slumber in a box too small for a heart so largely filled with pain ...Tonight I peeked inside your old haunt dreaming you’d be there all the same drunks -- minus you. You left a mess I’m trying to clean and an emptiness I can never fill with a crack that’s burning through me and I'm scattering like burnt ashes in the wind of tonight. |
