Ed Gein’s House
by Jenny Poore
I never get tired of hearing the list
Of things found in Ed Gein’s house.
A four poster bed with a head on each corner and
Soup bowls made from skullcaps.
Skin fashioned into lampshades
And stretched into seat covers for new kitchen chairs.
Socks of human flesh.
9 vulvas
Some of which were salted
One which he’d tied up neatly with ribbon.
4 noses, provenance unknown, as
Some of his victims were already dead.
Crimes hideous
A walking ghoul
The monster was reviled.
His own twisted head a mystery
Of sickness and misery and darkness and sludge.
The madness comparable only
To people who compile lists of the things
He kept in his house.
