The Reality It Took To Be There

after that 3rd cup of coffee
you realize you have to shit,
you make your way to the toilet
and the thing comes out pretty good,
there is no metaphor behind it
just a strange sensation
in your bunghole.

you finish it off,
wipe,
wipe again,
making sure everything is cleaned up,
get up, flush the toilet,
some of it actually sticks
to the bowl
give it a double flush
ah yes, that takes care of it.

you go to your bed
where your laptop is laying,
not a woman,
not a cat,
a laptop,
you write it down,
your mundane experience,
but it is alive
alive on the page
not for the words
it inhabits
but who wrote it,
the feeling it came from
and the reality
it took to be there.
