| on the back bench seat
of a red Mercury Villager traveling through the Arizona desert towards our destination in San Clemente, California I was reading in a book of essays by Charles Simic about Robert Creeley and a poem he worte describing a woman taking a piss in the bath room sink of a rented room after making love. the picture in my head says more than the poem, I'm sure. I thought about my fat-ass Mexican girlfriend I split with last year and how after having anal sex I followed her to the bath room insisting that I needed to shower and listening, excitedly like a child as she farted come out of her ass over the toilet. I covered my mouth, giggling, and she said, OH MY! and farted again. I'm sure, this poem says more than the picture in my head. because the picture in my head is distorted by memory which fades like hot water mirages on the open, desert roads ahead. the Saguaro cacti in the side window I will not recall or remember like the face of Robert Creeley's lover, lost. |
