Date Night
by Brian Rosenberger
His girlfriend had no interest in going
but since the film was something
he and his girlfriend’s friend
had been dying to see
off they went
together

"It’s like date night," he said
"Yeah," she replied between
mouthfuls of popcorn
"Yeah," he said, wondering
if she was the type
to put out on the first date
or if there might be
another date night
in their future

The previews,
like the imagined scenes
in his head,
played on and on
