Everything is Music
by William Taylor Jr.
For as long as I can remember
itís always been
this way:
I feel most alive
when everything else
is asleep
and Iím alone
in a room,
dark, except maybe
a lamp with just enough
soft yellow light,
and I've a drink
in my hand;
beer, wine
or maybe something stronger.
Maybe thereís
a cat or maybe
thereís nothing
but itís still my favorite
time;
just me alone
with my joy
and my sorrow,
memories
and dreams,
and if theyíre all I am
I donít have to be embarrassed
or ashamed,
and sometimes thereís the music
of old records
and sometimes thereís just
the silence of things,
but that too is music;
almost everything is music,
and all of it beautiful
if you have the sense enough
to let it be.
