it was probably best we met again this way
by J.J. Campbell
the curve of your breast
always excited me

those deep dark haunting
pools masquerading as
your eyes would send
chills down my spine
each time they stared
me down

your breath seemed to
melt into my soul each
night we spent together

and forever was always
right around the corner
each time our lips met

we haven't spoken to
or seen each other in
quite a number of years
now

but it doesn't surprise me
in the least that you are
one beautiful corpse
