noise
by abe gibson
out at the edge of night
walking that fine schizophrenic line
drum rolls, lightning flashes
so preoccupied with movies
this noise, this american noise
the soundtrack to this new life
cut up & torn down
we wake up in someone
else's body, a creepy thing
looking out someone else's window
listening to the clock's ticking
echo up the hallway

out at the edge of night
with tingly fingers
working up to magic
ice and fire
and airplanes
noise
at the edge of
the sound barrier
with the television on
every building hissing
office noise,
very few quiet rooms

out at the edge of night
without a girl
wrapped up in womb
of noise
painting the air with it
cutting fingers w/guitar strings
something soothing
to welcome the sun rise
