Sometimes I Think I’m Buford Pusser
by Dan Provost
Snow falls on
the city walker who
wears his baggy jeans
far down his ass-a sign he thinks
deserves recognition of
having a certain toughness that
will lead me to clear a path for him,

As he bops his head to the music he
is listening to on his I-Pod, I head right
toward him to see what
this wanna be gang banger is
gonna do.

He moves and slips on the ice.

Chalk up one for the big country boy.
