First time ever
forgot the top drawer
can't be late again
bus has five minutes
                I have three

Jeans on, soft
worn too many days
chafes against an old
        shave stubble
fits into creases where
        no denim belongs

Shirt sniffed and discarded
new one from the pile
    no time for a brush
my hands snag through
    tumbled tangled hair

Out the door and
                onto the street
cars move quickly
            I am flat
all I can think of is
        that everyone will know
I went commando.
