***BIO*** Bentley Snow Davis: I am an overeducated, recovering academic living in a small town in coastal Maine; but I spent most of my life in the urban midwest. I spend countless hours reading and writing poetry as an effective excuse to avoid finishing my disseration in philosophy. Besides, living here, there isn't much else to do. Although I have been writing for years, I have just recently begun the process of submitting my work. Thus far, I have work forthcoming in HalfDrunk Muse, Poetic Hours and HazMat Review.

Dear John
by Bentley Davis
John, why did you let Slick and more importantly, that bitch live with you? Why did you let them get you on the junk again? It broke my heart when you begged me for fifty bucks then showed up at my door nodding. I know you all followed the directions from “Mr. Bleach Man” comics but I fear she gave you her disease along with the junk. Even if all you got was her Hep, with your drinking – the Cuervo bottle curtains – your liver would have to fail. Is that what got Aaron? All I heard was drinking. I always tried to tell you just because your dad shot himself in the head didn’t mean you had to kill yourself as well. You had beauty and talent -- incomparable poetic genius – to live for. You had people who loved you. You had more than most of us.
