THE CRAB
by RD Armstrong
Maybe it was the heat
Or the fullness of the moon
That made her stand so close
To me
As I skittered around
In a circle
Trying to stand up
And let her pass

I was sitting cross-legged
On the floor installing
A kick plate on the door
To the restroom
She was in a hurry
Her perfect tightness
Straining against denim
To get past the strange man
Sprawled on the floor

One and a half circles
And I was up
It wasn’t graceful
Nor was she grateful
For the effort
I was just some
Crustacean running sideways
To make way for the queen
On her way to the throne
