***BIO*** Bentley Snow Davis: I am an overeducated, recovering academic living in a small town in coastal Maine; but I spent most of my life in the urban midwest. I spend countless hours reading and writing poetry as an effective excuse to avoid finishing my disseration in philosophy. Besides, living here, there isn't much else to do. Although I have been writing for years, I have just recently begun the process of submitting my work. Thus far, I have work forthcoming in HalfDrunk Muse, Poetic Hours and HazMat Review.

Stage Diving
by Bentley Snow Davis
Friends lift you up heave you above themselves onto the stage. Quickly gather your Raggedy Ann self boots beneath head above. Skip little girl way up high on the stage but kick your feet out a little more. Don’t hog the time – two or three bars suffice. Stretch out arms parallel to floor and fall forward with an outward push. Hands reach up to catch you. Though two or three pair would do to break the fall, several are there holding arms legs torso above heads of crowds. They pass you back to where the throng thins slowly lowering you to your feet. Ready to begin again? Its an exercise in trust, you know like the actors’ game of falling backwards to classmates’ waiting arms. But unlike the actors you were on stage.
