| Julienne was born in Ventura, CA in 1970 and grew up in various cities in California, Washington, Alaska and Nevada. Julienne credits her grandmother, an accomplished painter and her formative years spent surrounded by art in an organic environment as the foundation for a life long exploration of creative expression. She studied social anthropology and juvenile literature in central California before moving east to study photography in Boston, MA. She graduated from the New England School of Photography in 1994 with a major in portraiture and a minor in experimental color process. After graduation, she worked as a professional photographer, artist and multimedia instructor in Boston, New York and San Francisco. She specializes in environmental and experimental portraiture and product photography in addition to her fine art imagery. |

| The William artist statement: "The William Collection," is a series of photographic images based on conceptions of intimacy and publicity. The subject is a 15" tall plastic doll who serves as a foil for the artist's photographic exploration of gender, perspective, and the prospect of an entirely solo existence. William is depicted in scenes of ordinary import, self-reflection and abstraction. Apparently androgynous, William also draws the viewer to ponder the popular social norms of gender identification in seeking companionship and/or personal satisfaction. |

Julienne has been exhibiting her work in galleries and public venues in the US and abroad for the past 10 years. During that time, she has gained notoriety for her striking photographic and digitally manipulated images. Limited edition prints are held in private collections around the world. She lists Robert Frank, Sandy Skoland, Joseph Cornell and Tom Waits among her most beloved and influential creative minds. 2003 marked a renewed dedication to creative expression in visual and conceptual forms for Julienne with new projects in short film-making, installation and mixed media art in addition to her pursuits in the photographic fields. She resides in Oakland, California. |
