Where you been
by Dan Raphael
Ive been to the crow bar, the no bar, the low brow lounge,
someplace else, the office, the wunder bar, the bar none.
Ive eaten goat, stoat, twice rolled oats, mousse, elk, white tail
just jumped out in front of the car
ive had yak milk cheese, water buffalo salami, tofurkey, wham, meat whiz, slumgullion
Drank moonshine from my landlord, water from a bamboo sluice,
monongahela river water, a little bit of everything from my parents liquor cabinet,
moose piss, moose drool, cold cock, cloud nine & what the gentleman on the floor is having
Ive swallowed enough chemicals
inhaled enough combustion
parlayed with kidnapped devas
let so many words explode inside me
If i never have another bite, another dram, another artificial brain elevation
i’ll still be writing it down, making it up, boiling until tender,
forgetting that walls are solid, every utterance absorbed before it can get out,
cortex salad spinning, warm mist on the inside remembering a density i’d itch and sneeze from
I split in five directions like a star without an exploding middle,
a space gravitys not allowed, not believed in:
the door opens around me, the floor folds up to chair me,
in my hand a glass, in my mouth many things
