| ***BIO*** Adrienne Lewis edits the Paradidomi Review and is founder of The Rooftop chaplet series. Her work has appeared in various print and literary venues including the Hiram Poetry Review, Controlled Burn, Poetry Midwest, the Poetry Super Highway, and Poets in Their Thirties. | Tonight is the first time
since he told me how things have changed. And so I pull my tongue across him hoping maybe this lick, or that, will make him love me again. I look up at him feeling nothing but a steady rhythm, blood through the only organ he knows how to use. Me and my ideas about self-respect; nothing matters now. I put everything into turning him because he may reach out, say my name the way he used to before the moment dies and his heart takes over again. |
