| ***BIO*** James Babbs: I currently have poems in Alpha Beat Soup(February 2005), The Blind Man’s Rainbow (Winter 2005: Vol. X, Issue 2), Soul Fountain (Vol. #24, Winter 2005) and online in Thunder Sandwich (#25). I, also, have poems forthcoming in The Blue Mouse, Hazmat Review, Poetry Motel, The Real Eight View, Spillway and Zillah. In 2003 I self-published my first collection, Dictionary of Chaos which is available at www.xlibris.com. Although, I attended Illinois State University twice I have, yet, to get a degree but it sure was fun. I write poetry for the joy of it but, in order to pay the bills, am employed by the Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. In my free time I enjoy reading and listening to Neil Young. |

| Blonde Nurses |

| at the hospital I find Anna
in the ICU with tubes running in and out of her body but she’s awake eating ice chips talks to me and even makes sure I notice the blonde nurse who comes in to check on her and the next time I visit Anna’s been moved down to the surgical floor and some of the tubes have been removed and besides ice chips she’s allowed to eat Popsicles but demands only cherry ones and when the nurse enters she’s blonde the same as the previous one and then a third nurse comes in to ask the other one a question and she’s another blonde and after they leave I ask Anna if all the nurses in the hospital are blonde letting my thoughts run away with me and she laughs asks me for another Popsicle before answering yes |
