***BIO*** Zach McNaughton: I hail from Toledo Ohio. I've been published in a broadsheet (The Unrorean) and in "Whirligig." I live at the Collingwood Arts Center, which also has the closest thing I have

Purity
by Zach McNaughton
on this side comes naturally-
pressing head first through
magenta layered walls,
skull plates slide, beyond pain,
drowning, swimming through overstretched muscles,
flopping out like a fish into a manger or
some PhD's stainless steel. Alive.
That's purity.
On the other side, it naturally comes-
pressing head first into a silicon world,
tectonic plates grinding into earthquakes,
sliding past pain, loss, swimming in over-taxed sensory perceptions,
dreaming collective fish dreams
ending up hanging on a tree or in a wooden box, some end, dead.
That's pure too.
