| seagulls in the city
eager-eyed lookouts for the brick aesthetic rain on the windows a downpour of sad eyes following the rivers ebb pages of yesterday’s news sailing dirty gutters and sunk in bitterness motorized beasts halted at the red light waiting, waiting for green a procession of commuters endlessly vended to pursue street cracks hippies and beatniks lurking over coffee and cigarettes disguised for work a clock tower looming over wasted bums and beggars weeping for time one million limp muscles hearts that failed and struggle for a rhythm shop fronts blink doorways breathe a sigh as coins sleep inside the tills and behind it all the hump-backed skyline deceptively waits |
