The tube in London:
Standing on the cold platform with the other warm bodies
Self aware, nervous, watching for terrorists hopefully
With comic-strip captions pointing them out or flashing arrows

Paddington arrives with a screech and jerk
Sad souls leak off the train and new ones
Merge in stand grasping greasy bar
Jerk into a nice ride
Stare at multi-colored tube map
Make eye contact with riders
But not too long

God is there watching
Clacking and dark grime flying by
The depths of hell

Riding to new highs
New sensations
Out-of-control roller coaster
The recorded voice of a calm English woman
With beautiful diction announcing
Each impending stop

We will never see these people again
They will never see us
Unless they look
I do I see myself
No better, no worse
Just living for answers
A bit of truth in the eyes

You could ride this train
All day in a Circle
Underground Emancipation
