The snow fell from heaven last night
like Jesus’ forgiveness
purifying everything

the atheists’ shovel
trading beauty
for practicality

and safety
bought by neighbor
boys’ shovels

amendments should be
passed to protect
the flakes’ sanctity

like the Hindu’s
protect reincarnated
cattle (uncle Bill)

fines and sentences
given for every
crushed flake

it all makes
its own sort of
sense surrounded

by ten inches
of cold beauty
my soul

is elevated
from Blake’s
Generation

to his Bulah
where I pass
legislation

to protect
the flakes’
beauty.
