| you wake cold tickles you upwards
the foot the shin then the door sunlight meets you in the bathroom water from the showerhead hits your hand like hail the thighs tingles small hairs on the stomach rise bare breasts you say to the mirror hello morning you smile birds answer back Hello Hello then scatter sadly the children below take the bus you’re alone you write in your journal that you wish to quit smoking morning is a struggle one leg then the other and suck in one arm in then over the head a hand through the hair the keys are missing coffee spilled upon the counter you’re late for the funeral. |
