***BIO*** Katherine Horrex: I am an 18 year old poet from Hull, East Yorkshire, England. I was recently chosen for a writing group that was funded by the Arts Council called the 'Writing Squad'- its basic aim is to provide a leg up for young writers. I won the East Riding Poetry Competition (in age group 13-18) last year and was short listed in the '06 Christopher Tower competition. I'm on the very long route to getting a book of my work published.

My friend said I’m naïve
because I found it hard
to believe
that she said that she’d
give Gary a blowjob if he’d
give her 10 grand.

Apparently, if he
won the lottery he’d
make that very proposition-
I said: It’s not a position
you’d find me in (I wouldn’t even
use my hand!)

Then she said she’d go down
on any man for a whole 10 grand;
to her it’s not a lot
to her it’s just a cock-
no big deal.

I said: I suppose for 20 he’d
cop a feel
but Jesus Christ his face!
(That’s what really makes it
such a small price to pay.)

Then she told me off for being mean
and said she wouldn’t be looking
at his face
anyway.
